Xuanan Lighting Launches GS8208 Addressable LED Strips – Built-in & External IC, DC12V/DC24V

Shenzhen, China – June 2026

Xuanan Lighting is pleased to announce the release of our new GS8208-based addressable LED strip series, featuring both built-in (internal) and external IC configurations to meet different project requirements.

The GS8208 is a 3-channel constant current LED driver with dual-channel redundant control, built-in display patterns, and 8kHz PWM refresh rate — making it ideal for decorative lighting, signage, and commercial installations.

Built-in IC vs External IC: Key Differences

Configuration

Built-in IC (Internal)

External IC

IC placement

Embedded inside the LED package (5050/2020)

Separate IC mounted on PCB alongside LEDs

Voltage options

DC12V only

DC12V or DC24V

Control method

1 IC controls 1 LED (single-point control)

1 IC controls 1 LED (DC12V) or 1 IC controls 2 LEDs in parallel (DC24V)

Pixel density

Higher (each LED is a pixel)

Standard (each IC controls 1 or 2 LEDs)

Best for

High-resolution displays, dense pixel requirements

Long runs, voltage drop-sensitive installations, cost-effective designs

DC12V vs DC24V External IC: Unique Architecture

Our external IC GS8208 strips offer two voltage options with different internal configurations:

DC12V External IC

  • 1 IC controls 1 LED

  • Each LED is individually addressable

  • Standard single-point control

  • Ideal for applications requiring full pixel-level control

DC24V External IC (Unique Design)

  • 1 IC controls 2 LEDs (parallel connection)

  • Unlike conventional chips where 1 IC controls 6 LEDs in series

  • Lower current consumption per IC

  • Better voltage drop performance over long runs

  • Ideal for architectural outlines and long-distance installations

Why this matters: Traditional 24V addressable strips often connect 6 LEDs in series per IC, which reduces resolution. Our GS8208 DC24V design uses 2 LEDs in parallel per IC — offering better resolution than conventional 24V strips while maintaining the voltage drop benefits of 24V operation.

Key Features of GS8208 (Both Configurations)

1. Dual-Channel Redundant Control

The GS8208 features two data input pins (SDI and SDI2). If one signal path fails, the other takes over — ensuring uninterrupted data transmission.

2. Built-in Display Patterns (No Controller Needed)

When no external signal is received, GS8208 automatically enters internal display pattern mode:

Benefit: Perfect for applications where a controller is not available — lights run automatically after power-on.

3. 8kHz PWM Refresh Rate – Flicker-Free

GS8208 uses MPWM (Multi-PWM) technology, achieving an 8kHz refresh rate — significantly higher than many competitor ICs (typically 400Hz – 2kHz).

4. Series Architecture – Better Drive Ability

GS8208 uses a series-connected output architecture, unlike traditional 5V parallel designs.

Result: Lower current draw means less voltage drop, longer cable runs, and cooler operation.

5. Staggered Output Delay

To prevent power interference and voltage fluctuations, GS8208 has built-in output staggering — OUT1, OUT2, and OUT3 activate at 80ns intervals.

6. Power-On Automatic Test

After power-on, GS8208 enters test mode, displaying red, green, and blue sequences — useful for production testing and debugging.
